Examples of appropriate qualifications include:
Category 3 Category 3 applicants are new entrants to the gas industry and have no relevant qualifications or experience. Application conditions require that this applicant obtains employment with a CORGI registered business that is willing to provide an auditable extended period of company "in house" gas training and organisational support prior to taking the ACS assessment. (The alternative route for this category of applicant is to seek training and experience that will result in the attainment of an N/SVQ in Gas Services Installation and Maintenance at level II or III) The duration and content of the training programme will be determined by the scope of gas work to be undertaken. Evidence in the form of a portfolio of the completion of such training must be presented to the Assessment Centre prior to the operative taking assessments. All Individuals should declare to the Assessment Centre any situation in the past where: they have been deemed incompetent in matters of gas safety; they have had a gas competency certificate or qualification or CORGI registration withdrawn or they have been dismissed from employment on the grounds of gas safety incompetence. A failure to declare any such issues may invalidate any Certification awarded. Domestic Gas Safety CCN1 & Gas Appliances Initial Assessment and Re-assessment. All gas re-assessments are for those candidates whose ACS has expired within the last year only, all other candidates whose ACS expired more than ONE year ago will have to undertake initial assessment again. Proof of existing ACS will be required for the awarding body. Training is NOT a condition of any gas assessment or re-assessment but it is recommended. Domestic Gas Appliance Assessments
NOTE OF IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING A CURRENT CORE ASSESSMENT (CCN1)
Because the core (CCN1) is a mandatory requirement for any further appliance assessment it must always be maintained as a valid and current assessment certificate. Should the core certificate run out, then the validation of all other certificates received after the date of the core, including changeover cores, cease, even though they may have time to run. As soon as the core category has been re-assessed and the assessment passed the other categories become valid again. Please note that this can take up to 28 days after passing the assessment. |
